TraxContracting Group

Project — November 2024

West Knox Utility District Water Line Extension

Troutman Lane, Knoxville, TN  //  Client: West Knox Utility District

Scope of Work

West Knox Utility District contracted Trax Contracting Group to build the Troutman Lane Waterline Improvements project in northwest Knox County: a new 6-inch ductile iron water main extending along Troutman Lane to replace an aging 2-inch galvanized line that had reached the end of its service life.

Scope of work

The contract covered the full water line installation under West Knox Utility District's specifications: trenching and bedding the new 6-inch ductile iron main, tying it into the existing distribution system, reconnecting eleven existing customer services to the new main, and restoring the disturbed areas along the road. The work was bid as unit-price items and paid on the quantities actually installed and verified by the district's resident project representative.

Working for a public utility

A utility district project runs on the district's schedule and its inspection standards. The contract required substantial completion within 30 calendar days of the notice to proceed, so Trax sequenced the main installation, tie-ins, and service reconnections to keep customers in water throughout and to close the job inside the contract time. Trax completed the project in the fall of 2024.

Utility work across Knox County

Trax Contracting Group self-performs water distribution, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage for utility districts, municipalities, developers, and general contractors across Knox County and East Tennessee, with crews that hold grade, test every line, and coordinate directly with the owner's inspectors.
